He was a Juror in Chowan Co. 1727; Judge of the General Court in March 1729; a Justice of the Peace in 1731 and 1739; and a member of the General Assembly in 1739. In 1735 he patented 640 acres of land in Beaufort Co. His will, dated Dec. 8, 1753, was probated in May 1754. Sarah's Will was probated June 6, 1769.
